From May 28-30, 2024, the World Economic Forum hosted the Global Technology Retreat in San Francisco, gathering 300 technology leaders, innovators, and policymakers who shared strategies and best practices for inclusive and responsible technology adoption and explored innovative solutions to complex global challenges. The event also brought together experts and representatives from the global 4IR centers network, including Jelena Bojović, Head of C4IR Serbia, and Branislava Gemović, Data and Convergence Program Manager.

The GTR aimed to ensure technological advancements contribute to more inclusive, resilient, and sustainable societies. Our team connected with senior executives, entrepreneurs, and policymakers from global 4IR centers, showcasing C4IR Serbia’s and the Republic of Serbia’s innovative projects while exploring new opportunities for responsible tech adoption.

Key highlights included community meetings and thematic sessions where C4IR Serbia had a significant role. Head of C4IR Serbia, Jelena Bojović spoke at the Community Hub: Driving Impact Around the World, where she showcased our Centre’s projects and Serbia’s most important biotech initiatives, including the BIO4 Campus. Jelena emphasized the importance of building an ecosystem and fostering innovation in medicine and healthcare, highlighting how AI, data, infrastructure, and knowledge can drive significant advancements and create a sustainable global impact.

During the Firestarter C4IR Network Gathering, Bojović and Gemović engaged with other 4IR centers to share best practices and strategies for scaling innovative technologies. They discussed the importance of collaboration within the network to address shared challenges and opportunities.

In the session Unleashing Health Data, Gemović was the discussion lead, guiding conversations on how to effectively harness health data for better healthcare outcomes. She emphasized the critical role of data in driving personalized medicine and improving public health initiatives.

Additionally, Bojović attended the AI Governance Alliance (AIGA) community meeting, which provided valuable opportunities for C4IR Serbia to align on priorities with other technology leaders and surface new insights that will shape the future of technology. AIGA brings together over 350 stakeholders from more than 280 organizations worldwide to discuss critical topics at the forefront of AI and governance.

Once again, this year’s GTR offered a valuable platform for networking with leading experts and representatives from key sectors and provided an exceptional opportunity for C4IR Serbia to showcase its initiatives and engage with the world’s foremost community of innovators.
