Today, we are thrilled to be at the forefront of innovation as we host a workshop on the Data Sharing Ecosystem for Health in Belgrade. Collaborating with our esteemed colleagues from the Open Data Institute (ODI) and with the support of Roche Serbia, this workshop is dedicated to the value of health and genetic data, aiming to create an ecosystem for responsible data sharing and use.

We have brought together key stakeholders from Serbia dealing with health and genetic data, including representatives from the Government – Dejana Ranković, Advisor on Health Policy in the PM Office, Sladjana Djukić, Assistant Minister and Djuro Radovic, Head of department for Health Digitalizacion from the Ministry of Health, etc. We are also thrilled to have representatives from Data Protection Body, Office for IT and eGovernment, scientific and healthcare institutions, patient organization, as well as organizations like UNDP, AmCham and NALED.

The crucial aim of this workshop is to discuss the value of health and genetic data, explore good practice examples from Europe (such as Finland and Denmark) and from outside Europe (such as Singapore), and determine what is applicable for Serbia and how to best implement it in our ecosystem. The intended output is to agree on our strategy for the secondary use of health and genetic data and to become advocates of this in the future.

The workshop was opened by the Head of C4IR Serbia, Jelena Bojović, and the discussions were led by Mark Boyd, Senior Policy Associate and Josh D’Addario, Principal Consultant at ODI. The event was supported by the Roche in Serbia.
